Engineering Section
The Engineering Wing is the main section that plans and implements local infrastructure development activities within the limits of the Gram Panchayat. This section works under the leadership of the Assistant Engineer of the Local Self Government Department (LSGD).
The main objective of this section is to complete the annual plans, road development, building construction and public works works of the Panchayat with proper quality and in a timely manner.
Main duties and services:
Project Planning and Design: Preparing estimates and plans for various construction works to be implemented using Panchayat funds and plan funds.
Technical Sanction: Granting necessary technical sanction for approved development works and supervising them.
Building Permits: Examine the plans of houses and commercial buildings to be constructed within the limits of the Gram Panchayat and recommending permission as per the Kerala Building Regulations (KBR).
Title Certificate (TC): Upon completion of construction of new buildings, inspect them and provide technical report for numbering and occupancy certificate.
Road - Bridge Development: Ensure maintenance and renovation of public roads, roads, drains and small bridges within the panchayat limits.
Life Mission / Housing Schemes: Inspect various stages of house construction of beneficiaries of various government housing schemes and provide technical certificate for allocating funds.
